Cleaning crystal glasses properly is particularly important with such high-quality products if you want to enjoy your glasses for a long time. Many people clean crystal glass as they would ordinary glass and are surprised to find that their glasses have become ‘dull’ or are showing the first signs of streaks. Yet it is not that difficult if you follow a few simple tips and clean them properly.

This is NOT how you should clean crystal glass!

Before we start with the practical tips for cleaning crystal glasses, here are two very important recommendations that you should definitely follow.

1. Never put crystal glasses in the dishwasher .
   Dishwasher tablets and dishwasher salt cause permanent damage to the surface of crystal glass.
   High-quality gold finishes or platinum rims are just as likely to be damaged in the dishwasher
2. Dry dust cloths are also not recommended and are unsuitable for cleaning crystal glasses
   Tiny dust particles, combined with the duster, act like sandpaper.
   They scratch the surface and the shine is gone for good.
   
   

How to clean crystal glass properly

1. Use a soft sponge with a fine surface
2. Dilute pH-neutral washing-up liquid with lukewarm water
3. Clean crystal glass with gentle circular movements using a sponge
4. Dry the glasses with a dust-free cloth 
   
   

Expert tips for cleaning crystal glass

As a crystal manufacturer, we are confident in our products and use them ourselves. This makes it all the more important that we clean them properly at home. Our professional tips are the result of many years of experience and have now proven their worth not only online.

1. Pro tip: Carafes and jugs should be rinsed with lukewarm water immediately after use to prevent drink residues from sticking to the inside of the glass
   
   
2. Pro tip: The tannins found in wine and wine-based drinks tend to stick stubbornly to crystal glasses. To clean them, carefully pour lukewarm water diluted with a little vinegar into the glasses, leave it to soak in briefly, then rinse it out with water. We also recommend using dust-free cloths for drying.
   
   
3. Pro tip: There are so-called decanter dryers available for thorough drying of decanters and carafes. Here, the decanters and carafes are placed upside down, allowing the inside to drain and dry.
   
   
4. Pro tip: For gold and platinum finishes, which are a hallmark of ARNSTADT KRISTALL, we recommend special gold cleaners, gold cleaning cloths or platinum cleaners.
   
   

Additional tip for storing crystal glasses: Do not stack crystal glasses! This could also cause them to become scratched. In our product details, we will gradually start to specify the diameter as well as the height of the glasses. This will allow you to place them side by side in the cupboard without causing any damage.
